About Me (Jason Crouch)
Welcome! Rather than talk about myself in the third person (which I find a bit pretentious), I wanted to take a minute to tell you a bit about me. I doubt that this page by itself will give you a well-rounded picture of me, but it’s a start.
I was born and raised in Dallas, and I came to the Austin area for college at Southwestern University. My wife Pam and I met in 1991 in Austin, while we were attending school at different places. We’ve been married since 1993, and we have four awesome and beautiful kids (one boy and three girls, in that order).
When I was in school, I took every marketing and advertising class available, and these topics have been a passion of mine ever since. Pam once asked me, “When are you going to stop reading all of these marketing books and write one?” It was a solid question – I’m working on that now.
I ran a small marketing/printing company for awhile before foraying into real estate sales in 1997. I remain the broker/owner of an independent real estate company in Austin, Texas today. I have spent years training my agents on how to stand out in this business.
I started blogging in 2004, and back then I used it primarily as an online diary, with all of my own opinions on any topic which came to mind. My audience was small then, limited to a handful of friends. In 2007, I started to blog more in earnest and to help grow my business. I developed a good-sized following, with about 2,000 subscribers to my real estate blog. When I say “real estate blog”, my writing is not limited to my industry. I share about my family, music I like (and some that I hate), and my unique, sometimes humorous take on things along with the raw data for our market.
I’m hoping through this site to expand my reach a bit in the areas of new media, marketing, business, and consulting for businesses and individuals. The thoughts expressed here are my own – all of the content comes from my brain alone.
